Fewer colours, far better flowers: why every bouquet from the shop is grown within a day of Bath.

Every bouquet that leaves the shop is made from what is growing within a day's drive of Bath. In November that means fewer colours and far better flowers.

Why I stopped importing

A rose flown in from Kenya in November is a fine rose. It is also the same rose in every shop in the country. What grows here this month has a shorter season and more character: ranunculus from a polytunnel near Frome, the last of the dahlias, seed heads, hips and beech.

A loose bunch of pale pink and cream ranunculus on a white table.
Ranunculus from a grower twenty miles away, cut on Tuesday, in a bouquet on Wednesday.

If you order from me this winter, you will get fewer colours and stems that last a week longer. I think that is the better trade.
